The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is taking a leap towards modernization and improved customer service with the introduction of a convenient online self-service tool. Effective immediately, individuals seeking to reschedule their biometrics appointments can now do so with ease and efficiency, thanks to this user-friendly tool.
The introduction of this feature aligns with USCIS’s ongoing commitment to enhancing customer experience and providing accessible services to all. By leveraging technology, the agency aims to streamline the appointment rescheduling process, making it hassle-free for applicants.
To utilize the online self-service tool, individuals must first have a USCIS online account. The process is straightforward, enabling users to select a new appointment date that best fits their schedule. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind. The tool cannot be used to reschedule an appointment that has already been rescheduled two or more times, is within 12 hours of the original appointment, or has already passed. Sufficient reasons to reschedule may include, but are not limited to:
- Illness, medical appointment, or hospitalization;
- Previously planned travel;
- Significant life events such as a wedding, funeral, or graduation ceremony;
- Inability to obtain transportation to the appointment location;
- Inability to obtain leave from employment or caregiver responsibilities; and
- Late delivered or undelivered biometric services appointment notice.
USCIS encourages all eligible applicants to take advantage of this new tool, as it not only saves time but also reduces the call volume to the USCIS Contact Center, allowing their representatives to focus on more complex inquiries. By making the appointment rescheduling process more accessible and efficient, USCIS is striving to enhance the overall experience for those navigating the immigration system.
