To continue our honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 through October 15, Garvish Immigration Law Group’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee will be highlighting the journeys of our very own staff members who celebrate their hispanic heritage. Nearly 40% of our team represents hispanic nations including Argentina, Colombia, El Salvador and Mexico. We are honored to work with such a diverse and talented group of (mostly) women and we cannot wait to share these inspirational stories!
Meet Danilo Benites, Legal Assistant at Garvish Immigration. Danilo was born and raised in Rosario, Argentina. Being descendant of Spaniards, Italian, Scottish and Native Americans, he grew up in a house where different traditions were merged. From an early age he wanted to meet different cultures, which led to him pursuing a career as an Officer of merchant ships, eventually reaching the position of Captain, and travelling around the world.
He then settled down, going back to Rosario, where he formed a family, having a wife and two kids. He started an aviation company with his brother, and started traveling again, this time mostly to the U.S. as part of the business obligations.
Danilo traveled to Americus, Georgia for business purposes and immediately felt at home there. After a couple of trips back and forth between the US and Argentina he and his wife decided to move to Americus to grow their company and give their child an experience living in another country.
“My personal experience with immigration law was daunting and awfully impersonal. Years later, my niece Mercedes went through her own immigration process, and I was amazed at how different her experience was. She was treated in a much more personal way, with Elizabeth, Alexandra and Nadia being on top of everything. She created such a bond with Elizabeth through the process that she ended up joining Garvish Immigration Law Group. This moved me to want to join the firm as well! I love being part of a group that is goal oriented, but also cares for the individuals involved in the process. It changed the way I look at immigration law completely.”
Danilo now works as a Legal Assistant for Garvish Immigration Law Group, and enjoys helping other immigrants like himself go through the immigration process in a personal way.
