April 2024 Visa Bulletin

The April 2024 Visa Bulletin has been released by the Department of State and our team at Garvish Immigration Law Group has again summarized the important changes and noteworthy items.   

Applicants in all family-sponsored preference categories will continue to use the Dates for Filing chart under the April 2024 visa bulletin. Additionally, consistent with the major change in the March 2024 visa bulletin, applicants in all employment-based preference categories will continue to use the Final Action Dates chart. 

In the April update for employment-based preference categories, major noteworthy changes are observed in both the Dates for Filing and Final Action Dates for EB-4 and EB-4-Certain Religious Workers categories. Under the Final Action Dates, EB-4 category for all countries have made significant progress with 11 months of advancement. Unfortunately,  EB-4 Certain Religious Workers category for all countries have encountered a setback.  Here, the class is displayed as unauthorized. Therefore, adjustment is unavailable for those who priority date falls within this category for the April visa bulletin.

EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, and EB-3 Other Workers categories have made minor but significant progress. Each category shows progress between 1 to 2 months of advancement.  A more substantial change is made in the EB-1 category for India, moving 5 months ahead from October 01, 2020 to March 01, 2021. The remaining categories remain unchanged from the March visa bulletin.

Similarly, Under the Date for Filing for employment-based preference categories, EB-4 and EB-4 Certain Religious Workers for all categories indicates that priority dates will change from January 2020 to December 2020, demonstrating a significant 11 months advancement. Whereas, the remainder of the categories remain the same from the March 2024 visa bulletin with the exceptions of the EB-1 India category which displays 3 months of progress and the EB3 India and EB3 Other Workers India sees a 1 month 14 days advancement from August 1, 2012 to September 15, 2012.

Turning to the family-sponsored preference categories, the Dates for Filing progress remains unchanged from the March visa bulletin with the exceptions of the F4 category for India with almost a 2 month advancement from February 22, 2006 to April 8, 2006 and a major advancement for the F4 category for the Philippines for one full year.

In comparison, family-sponsored preference categories for Final Action Dates show progression in the F2A category for all countries. Here, F2A Worldwide, China, India and the Philippines displays a 3 month advancement and F2A Mexico displays a 2 month advancement. Progress for the remaining categories remains unchanged from the March visa bulletin.
